Here's the Time Saving Apps a Contemporary CPA Firm Will Want To Download
With lots of of us trying to keep up with the delirious pace at which business is changing it may seem a little unfair that the accounting specialization is becoming so entirely tied to technology. For the folks who embrace new things, however, there are outstanding payoffs to be enjoyed. I'd like to offer you a few indispensable productivity apps that may just help you keep your accounting firm "with it" without costing your firm much money.
WinSplit Revolution: This one is tops for window organization. Quickly organize your workspace in a nice highly visible grid without anything overlapping. WinSplit Revolution is like the windows 7 feature of being able to dock windows left and right, only taken to the extreme. Most of us have too many tasks and therefore, too many windows open at once, on any given work day. Therefore, this tool can always be put to good use. If you spend too much time dragging windows around in order to view everything on your monitor(s) without having any windows hiding, then this app is certainly for you.
UltraMon: This app is great for those of us who use multiple monitors but still need ten more! It can be frustrating to have multiple monitors but to have a cramped taskbar that is confined to one monitor. An expanded task bar would be ideal simply for organizational purposes. This app will expand your taskbar across all of your monitors, while also providing additional tools for use with extra monitors. A fun feature within UltraMon involves wallpaper options. Most likely at the bottom of the productivity tools list, but hey, I like it. UltraMon adds amazing control over the desktop background, easily allowing fully spanning images across however many monitors you may have, or even a different image for all of them. It will even allow you to set custom screen savers and even custom icons.
TeamViewer: Easily the best application for remote access and remote support. This application is very lightweight, doesn't install a pesky display driver, and best of all its free! Team Viewer allows you to create a free account to keep track of all your machines. All you have to do is choose between the following: VPN, file transfer or remote control. Then connect. Of course, if you work with multiple clients, not all of them will have TeamViewer installed. This would normally make remote support a difficult and lengthy option, but with TeamViewer, you can ask clients to download the quick installer, which will very quickly generate a user ID and password.
Dropbox: Online storage is a must these days and goes hand in hand with remote access. Dropbox offers great customizability for synchronizing files across multiple machines, as well as folder sharing options. While you may have a great cpa website design that already has a file sharing feature, Dropbox is a very valuable tool for the many firms struggling along without access to this technology. They begin their beginners accounts with 2 Gigabytes of file storage space and extend simple ways of gaining additional free space by viewing guides and recommending friends (as much as 8 Gigs total). Dropbox also offers 50GB for just under $100 and 100 Gigabytes for about $200 a year.
